Daniel Myrick, the director of
The Blair Witch Project, is back with
The Objective, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival last night. The eerie
Web site for the film doesn't give many details, other than to say it is about "a highly trained special forces team is sent into the Afghanistan desert to make contact with a man known as 'Mohammed Aban.' Instead, they find something else…something that even their elite training hasn't prepared them for."
I haven't heard about any viral campaigns for this film, like the viral component that helped build buzz for
Blair Witch in 1999. But maybe it's because this time around, it's harder for Myrick to do anything in the film world without being noticed. Levine Communications in Los Angeles is handling PR for the film, so I'll keep you posted on what I learn about
The Objective—and if there are any cool elements to the PR behind it.
