On Sunday the Orlando Sentinel gave newspaper readers in Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and other metropolitan areas a taste of what their dailies might look like later this year.

Showing off what might be the most anticipated newspaper redesign in years, the Sentinel released a graphic-heavy paper, complete with shorter reports, top story roundups, and blog summaries, in line with Tribune Co. CEO Sam Zell’s vision for the company.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Baltimore Sun are on deck, and all Tribune newspapers are scheduled for makeovers by September. The flagship Chicago Tribune is getting into the act as well, using its Saturday editions as a design petri dish. However, Lee Abrams, Tribune chief innovation officer, has noted that the Sentinel is not a national template.
