A long-awaited shield law, which would protect reporters from being forced to reveal confidential sources in most federal court cases, passed the House yesterday by a huge margin.

The White House says it will veto it if it reaches the President's desk, because it would "encourage more leaks of classified information."

This may be a cause better taken up in 2008.
