NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller hired Nathan Ballard as an MD in the firm's San Francisco office, effective April 1. Ballard was the communications director for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom until he left in February to work at a boutique firm he started in 2004. At Burson, he will report to Josh Gottheimer, EVP and chair of the global public affairs practice.
