VANCOUVER: Best Buy Canada went on the offensive to counter an e-mail that had gone viral that suggested the electronics retailer was going out of business.

The e-mail claimed Best Buy Canada was owned by Circuit City, which recently filed for bankruptcy protection, and that its gift cards would no longer be valid.
