Within three years, 300 small-scale corn farmers in the Mexican state of Jalisco have increased the productivity of their land by more than 170%. In 2008, PepsiCo began buying corn directly from the farmers, assuring a straightforward price and enabling farmers to more easily maintain their livelihood.
