LONDON: Omnicom Group's Diversified Agency Services unit has acquired a majority stake in Portland, a London-based communications agency.
Portland's senior management team will remain untouched and retain a large stake in the firm, it said in a statement.
Portland works with corporations, governments, and international organizations on media relations, digital and public affairs. The deal will allow the 11-year-old firm to expand its international reach and create an alliance with European political affairs and communications agency G+ Europe.
Tim Allan, a one-time senior adviser to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and director of communications at TV network bSkyb, founded Portland. It has offices in New York and Nairobi, Kenya, in addition to its London headquarters.
Omnicom bought Marina Maher Communications last November after a year of planning.
