Sports fans will soon see bylines from rival cities in their local newspapers. Nearly 50 daily outlets
have joined a content-sharing alliance to trade sports columns and stories, beginning next month, according to a report in
Editor & Publisher.
Among the newspapers that will be a part of the consortium are
The Plain Dealer of Cleveland; Minnesota’s
Star-Tribune;
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and the
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Newspapers
in Ohio and other regions are sharing content,
as are long-standing competitors, such as
The Washington Post and
The Baltimore Sun. CNN is
also planning a wire service.
