Toshiba concedes format in the next-gen DVD war

The HD DVD format, championed by Toshiba and some major studios, is effectively being retired, with Toshiba announcing it will no longer manufacture HD DVD players and recorders (see PRWeek's coverage on the next-gen format war here).
