NBC aggressively promoted its own shows during last night's Super Bowl XLVI. The network has been in dire straits ratings-wise for some time now. For instance, a recent showing of its program The Firm was beaten in the 18-to-49 demographic by a rerun of The Big Bang Theory on TBS.

The network spots promoted programs like The Voice, Smash, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. NBC also assembled most of its stars for a giant Super Bowl commercial in a throwback to the ad stylings of the 1980s.

The move has already proved successful. Ratings of The Voice were up 159% from last year's series premiere.
