Coincidentally, this week, which features our big
Cause Survey (sub req'd), is also
Slate.com's Philanthropy Issue. One story talks about
metrics, another looks at the effectiveness of
Teach for America, and a third looks at the roots of
Rockefeller philanthropy (they had PR help to get started).
But this
story, talking about consumer willingness to pay more in order to do good is particularly interesting. The study highlighted in this issue takes research on this topic a step further and finds that people (especially those with the money to do so) have no qualms about spending more on goods if the money goes towards a good cause.
