The union movement is planning to launch events, surveys, a lobbying day, and advertising campaigns as part of its effort to support the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as “card check," starting on the Labor Day weekend, reports Politico.

The effort comes as legislators prepare for a busy fall, with some union leaders saying that the labor bill could be pushed aside because of healthcare, climate change, and financial services legislation, as well as federal budgets.

The battle over the Employee Free Choice Act hit its peak earlier this year, with both labor and business groups launching a number of campaigns that leveraged PR, grassroots, and social media.
