The Kaiser Family Foundation launched its health policy news service today, with plans to distribute in-depth stories, news, and multimedia content through the online news platform.
The service, called
Kaiser Health News, is anchored by executive editors Laurie McGinley, former deputy bureau chief for global economics at
The Wall Street Journal, and Peggy Girshman, former managing editor for National Public Radio. It has an editorial team of 18.
What's interesting about the service is that content is
free for use by media outlets and the public.
In other health journalism news, I recently discovered
Covering Health, the
Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ) blog, which launched in December 2008.
Pia Christensen, managing editor of online services for AHCJ, told
PRWeek that the blog will be used to highlight "interesting, well-reported stories." It also includes posts about major hires in health journalism, like Ivan Oransky's recent move to Reuters Health.
