For those keeping score, give one point to privacy advocates. Google has made it easier to remove personal information from its Street View feature. Under the old policy only the person whose face -- or car -- was photographed could request that the image be taken down. Now anyone can ask that recognizable faces or license plates be removed.

Reportedly the change was made just 10 days after Street View launched, but Google has kept it pretty quiet. That is until earlier this week when Marissa Mayer, VP of search products and user experience at Google, mentioned it at the Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose. According to CNet, she said:
"We looked at it and we thought that's really silly because that's not the point of this product. The purpose is to show what the stores look like, what houses look like," she said. "If someone says, 'Hey, there's a face here,' ... it doesn't matter whose face it is."
