CHICAGO: DePaul University's College of Communication will award an honorary degree to GolinHarris founder and chairman Al Golin at its commencement ceremony.
Golin will receive a doctorate of humane letters degree at the June 10 ceremony at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.
The university will honor Golin for developing the “trust bank” concept in 1957 with McDonald's CEO Ray Kroc. The idea helped McDonald's give back to communities, particularly through the founding of its Ronald McDonald House Charities. The restaurant chain is still one of GolinHarris' key clients.
Golin also sits on the boards of the Goodman Theatre of Chicago and Roosevelt University and is a founding board member of Ronald McDonald House Charities. He also serves as a PR adviser to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
