Today's news that Chrysler would file for
Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection was coupled with the announcement that GMAC Financial Services has entered into
an agreement to provide financing for Chrysler dealers and customers.
In March,
PRWeek reported that GMAC had selected CJP Communications for comms outreach that would aid the company as it transitioned to a more consumer-facing entity as a bank holding company. In an e-mail, Toni Simonetti, GMAC VP of global communications, wrote that the company is "delighted" with the latest development, which she called the "first significant action to diversify our automotive business after more than 90 years of being a GM-centric auto finance company." And there is an added "complexity" that comes with adding Chrysler to the fold.
"More and different dealers, selling more and different products... naturally will affect our b-to-b communications efforts, our customer service, the way we think about our brand, and our internal communications directed at getting our employees on board with this change," Simonetti wrote.
