Wendell Potter, a former VP of corporate communications at Cigna, is testifying June 24 before the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation about the role the health insurance industry has played in resisting healthcare reform.

In addition, Potter will also be blogging and writing for the Center for Media and Democracyas a senior fellow on healthcare. He posted his first blog today, talking about when and why he started to feel uncomfortable with his communications position at Cigna and what he plans to do in the coming months.

CBS news confirmed with Chris Curran, director of corporate communications at Cigna, that Potter retired from the insurance giant more than a year ago.
