First Lady Michelle Obama has joined Twitter as part of her husband's 2012 reelection campaign. The @MichelleObama handle is run by the #Obama2012 campaign, but personal tweets from the FLOTUS are delineated by her initials, "mo."

The reelection effort has no shortage of Twitter surrogates, from the official @BarackObama to the Obama for American state handles (e.g., OFA_Ohio), but a Twitter feed from the president's popular wife certainly can't hurt.

Mrs. Obama turns 48 on Tuesday, January 17, and the reelection campaign has also organized a digital birthday card signing for her from supporters.
