SAN FRANCISCO: Flickr, the photo-sharing site, recently announced that its "Pro" users can upload 90-second
video clips to the Web site, which
angered some Flickr users. In an attempt to make light of the situation -- and tp keep users happy -- Flickr employee Matthew Rothenberg agreed to buy donuts yesterday for anyone who came to Bob's Donut and Pastry Shop in San Francisco,
Wired reported.
"Who doesn't deserve a doughnut?" said Rothenberg, who got the idea from a group on the photo-sharing site called
We Demand Donuts. "After I found the group, I'd made my decision within an hour [to organize the San Francisco event]. And now, there's all kinds of groups demanding things, like free pancakes."
Other events took place all across the country yesterday, but Flickr only organized and purchased the donuts at the San Francisco meeting.
"It's a very Flickr response...whimsical," said Heather Champ, director of communications at Flickr, according to
Wired. "I think some people didn't quite know how to respond to the new [video] feature, so they chose to get behind this."
