Dan Rather has filed a $70 million lawsuit against CBS, Viacom, and their executives for allegedly violating his contract after  they forced him to step down in the wake of the disproven George Bush- National Guard story (a.k.a. 'Rathergate). Rather says in the suit that the network's investigation of the false story was biased and flawed, that they damaged his reputation, and that they failed to give him sufficient airtime on 60 Minutes following his departure from the anchor desk.

Sandy Genelius, VP of CBS News communications, offered this response on behalf of the network: "These complaints are old news, and this lawsuit is without merit."

More to come, surely.
