White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton, rumored to have been in the running for the press secretary position vacated by Robert Gibbs, is leaving the Obama Administration to start a political and strategic consulting shop.

Politico reports that Burton plans to work with Sean Sweeney, a former aide to Rahm Emanuel, and both former White House officials had ruled out lobbying.

Jay Carney, who was named White House press secretary after Gibbs announced plans for his departure, started this week in his new position.
