Gideon Fidelzeid and I were in Toronto last week for our first-ever roundtable in that city. Topic number one for discussion? Yes, it was talent. One of the most interesting takeaways was the fact that Calgary has such a booming market that it is basically stealing bodies away from other cities, luring professionals with high salaries and top jobs in that region's oil and gas sector.
We met with High Road Communications, which is part of Fleishman-Hillard and a technology specialist. Their focus on talent is formidable, and the firm boasts a 5% turnover - an incredibly low rate. Mentoring and training is at the center of their approach.
