NEW YORK: Former Merrill Lynch chief executive John Thain has enlisted Sunshine, Sachs & Associates for PR services. Firm president Ken Sunshine would not elaborate on the nature of the work, but said the relationship began "within the last week."
"I will confirm that we're representing Mr. Thain, but that's as far as I'll go," Sunshine said. "We take great pride in our discretion."
Thain was ousted from his post as head of global banking, securities, and wealth management at Bank of America last week. Following his resignation, he was subpoenaed by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to discuss bonuses that Thain paid to Merrill Lynch employees days before the brokerage firm was sold to Bank of America. He has also come under fire for expenditures on office redecoration. He has agreed to repay the cost.
