Santorum's strong performance once again showed the cracks in the Republican party, which seems unable to enthusiastically get behind one candidate at this stage of the race. While some candidates essentially skipped the "beauty contest" in Missouri, Santorum's win in Colorado surprised many given that Mitt Romney won the state during the 2008 Republican primary contests. Santorum has certainly come a long way since December.

In his victory speech last night, Santorum took both President Barack Obama and Romney to task for what he sees as their shortcomings. A few choice quotes. C-SPAN video below.

On his three-state win (said before Colorado results were in.)

Conservatism is alive and well in Missouri and Minnesota."

Directed at President Obama.

You better start listening to the voice of the people... He thinks he's smarter than you."

On Republican competitor Mitt Romney. A twofer, really.

Mitt Romney has the same positions as Barack Obama."
