PARIS: Publicis Groupe acquired a majority stake in the Women's Forum for Economy and Society, a global forum founded by Aude de Thuin in 2005. The acquisition, which took place last week, falls in line with Publicis' other activities, said Olivier Fleurot, CEO in charge of PR and event marketing for Publicis Groupe.

"We think it's a world class event and we have many other activities like PublicisLive for instance, [which organizes] the World Economic Forum, so we like organizing big international events," Fleurot told PRWeek. "We do advise global companies in many aspects of corporate communication, and inviting them to meet and debate and discuss all the current challenges that they are all facing is very interesting."

Thuin will stay on as chairwoman of the Women's Forum, which will fall under Fleurot's supervision. The Forum will not be incorporated into any of the Publicis networks, though several PR and event marketing agencies will work with the Forum in an effort to expand the scope to cover all world regions.

Fleurot said while Publicis Conseil in France is currently working with the Forum, Publicis will also draw on the worldwide network of MS&L to handle PR for the event.
