JERSEY CITY, NJ: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is searching for a firm to help it develop marketing and communications strategies.

The organization will task the firm with handling various marketing, advertising, and media initiatives. The agency will also be expected to perform community outreach activities, Web and social media strategy, and media planning and buying.

The Port Authority operates many of the New York metropolitan area's major transportation facilities, such as LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, Newark, and Stewart International Airports. It also operates the Holland and Lincoln tunnels and the 16-acre World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.

The deadline to respond to the RFP is January 30, 2012. The four-year deal takes effect July 1, 2012, and it includes two possible one-year extensions. The incumbent agency is Korey Kay & Partners, which is working on a $5 million contract with the Port Authority.

This solicitation replaces an RFP that was posted and subsequently canceled this fall. The Port Authority declined to discuss why it cancelled the earlier search process and started the new one.
