The latest round of layoffs at The New York Times Co. includes corporate communications SVP Robert Christie.

Christie confirmed his departure via Twitter late Wednesday afternoon, and it was reported by the Times' Media Decoder blog.

The Times Co. hired Christie away from rival Dow Jones & Co. in 2010 to replace Catherine Mathis, who left the media company in August 2009 for Standard & Poor's. Christie's one-time boss at the Times Co., former CEO Janet Robinson, is now an adviser at Fleishman-Hillard.
