Bully Pulpit Interactive hires two directors in DC

Bully Pulpit Interactive has hired Graves Spindler and Alex Kellner as directors in its Washington, DC, office.

WASHINGTON: Bully Pulpit Interactive has hired Graves Spindler and Alex Kellner as directors in its Washington, DC, office.

Kellner previously served as digital director for Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe's 2013 campaign and Sen. Claire McCaskill's (D-MO) 2012 reelection effort. He managed online fundraising efforts that netted $7.5 million collectively and has overseen multimillion-dollar advertising campaigns, the firm said in a statement.

Spindler has 10 years' experience working on political campaigns both in the Obama Administration and developing advertising and communications initiatives for political, nonprofit, advocacy, and Fortune 500 clients. He previously worked at SS+K's DC office and the Department of Homeland Security.

The firm said in a statement that it added two offices in Washington, DC, and New York and grew its staff by 50% in 2013.

Ben Coffey Clark, partner and head of business development at the firm, said it is “outstanding” to have both hires on board, adding that Kellner's decision to join the agency that he worked with during the McAuliffe campaign is a validation of the work it is doing.

BPI has also hired Zara Rahim, who will start on January 27, as an associate. She will join the firm from the White House Office of Digital Strategy. Rahim previously served as digital manager for the city of Tampa and Mayor Bob Buckhorn. She was also the digital content director for Obama for America in Florida in 2012.

Each position is new at the firm, said Coffey Clark.
