Toyota is quickly learning a hard lesson: Become top dog in your industry and your competitors are going to come after the talent that helped you get there. This time, Ford has managed to snag James Farley, formerly a Toyota VP and general manager of the company’s Lexus division, from the world's top automaker and
name him the company's new
VP of marketing and communications. Farley is the third executive to leave Toyota in recent months. Deborah Wahl Meyer, formerly the head of marketing for Lexus, left to
join Chrysler as its to-be Chrysler's chief marketing officer, and Toyota's top American executive James E. Press, also
joined Chrysler as its president and vice chairman.
