News anchors are supposed to be beacons of impartiality. But retired news anchors get to say whatever they want, and get in trouble for it. Dan Rather got involved in a feud with CBS CEO Les Moonves last week, who accused Rather of sexism for saying that the network “tarted up” the evening newscast when it brought in Katie Couric.
