Unilever, along with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, say that images of "real" women used in a Dove campaign were not airbrushed, despite a recent
story in
The New Yorker.
The campaign was
praised for using women whose bodies did not fit a model stereotype. Photos were treated to eliminate dust and provide color correction, according to the joint statement. Pascal Dangin, the photo-retoucher profiled in
The New Yorker, also issued a statement
denying the claim.
