The battle for Newsday continues, but Rupert Murdoch appears confident that News Corporation will win the bid for the Long Island newspaper, despite Cablevision's recent $650 million bid.

“I don't think Cablevision will prevail; just be patient for a couple days,” The New York Times reported Murdoch saying in News Corporation's earnings conference call on Wednesday.

A Newsday article says Murdoch believes he will close the deal for the paper within one week.

News Corp's future operating plans, should it succeed in acquiring Newsday, include creating a large print center that would produce Newsday, the Post, and the Journal.  Murdoch thinks this will help bring down printing and distribution costs, Newsday reports.
