Gawker chief Nick Denton
rid his blog empire of three online destinations: Idolator,
Gridskipper, and political mainstay Wonkette.
Gawker sold
Gridskipper to the Curbed network, while editor Ken Layne bought
Wonkette. Buzznet added
Idolator to its roster, after buying
music blog Stereogum earlier this month. Denton explained the reason
for the sale as,
“Someone else will have better luck selling the advertising than we did.”
