Frontier Airlines filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy today, fueling more concern for an industry already suffering image problems. The Denver-based airline will continue to operate as it reorganizes, CNN reported. Frontier's decision comes amid continued cancellations by American Airlines, and after several other airlines — ATA Airlines, Skybus and Aloha Airgroup — recently filed for bankruptcy.
American canceled an additional 595 flights today, bringing the total canceled flights this week to nearly 2,500.
"It's a very troubled time for the industry," Air Travelers Association president David Stempler told
CNN. "It leaves passengers in a very unsettled state."
