The Democratic National Convention kicked off in Denver yesterday with remarks from Sen. Ted Kennedy and Michelle Obama to a theme of "One Nation." Michelle Obama, who
talked about her life and relationship with husband Barack, gave a more
personal look at the presidential candidate and stressed the family's patriotism and love for America.
Kennedy, who said the "
torch will be passed again to a new generation of Americans" this November, said he would be back in the Senate in January to continue his work, despite fighting brain cancer.
But not everyone was impressed with the first day of the convention. "If this party has a message, it's done a hell of a job of hiding it," Clinton supporter
James Carville told CNN.
The theme for the convention
today, which will include speeches by former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner and Sen. Hillary Clinton, is "Renewing America's Promise."
Meanwhile, Sen. John McCain isn't keeping a low profile during the DNC. The presidential candidate received an endorsement from Latin recording artist
Daddy Yankee and appeared on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, while his team continues to
reach out to Clinton supporters who might consider him their new candidate.
