As Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. girds for a possible confrontation
with the Federal Communications Commission over its intended Newsday purchase,
a member of the Bancroft family – the clan that sold Murdoch The Wall Street Journal – says,
figuratively, “I told you so” over managing editor Marcus Brauchli's
resignation.
Says Jane Cox MacElree, who controlled 15% of the group's
share of Dow Jones stock: "I'm not surprised…This is why I was not in
favor of selling the paper to that man. Words mean nothing to him, unless
they're his."
