are flying, the
Los Angeles Times stopped its job-cutting spree at 135 positions instead of the
previously announced 150. Meanwhile, its editor
planned a Sept. 7 launch for retooled monthly magazine
LA. On the East Coast,
Orlando Sentinel officials said
they cut 52 positions this month, and Cablevision's deal to acquire
Newsday closed.
